Password Management
STALTS enforces strong password practices to keep your account and your team's engagement data secure.
Password Requirements
When creating or changing your password, it must meet these requirements:
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Minimum length | 8 characters or more |
| Uppercase letter | At least one (A–Z) |
| Lowercase letter | At least one (a–z) |
| Number | At least one (0–9) |
| Special character | At least one (e.g. !@#$%^&*) |
A strength indicator shows you how strong your password is as you type.
Changing Your Password
If you're already logged in and want to update your password:
- Click your profile icon in the top bar
- Go to Account Settings → Security
- Click Change Password
- Enter your current password
- Enter your new password (must meet the requirements above)
- Confirm the new password
- Click Update Password
You'll receive an email notification confirming your password was changed. If you didn't make this change, contact your admin immediately.
SATLAS remembers your last 5 passwords. You cannot reuse any of them when setting a new password. This prevents cycling back to old, potentially compromised passwords.
Forgot Your Password?
If you can't log in because you've forgotten your password:
- Go to the SATLAS login page
- Click Forgot Password?
- Enter your registered email address
- Click Send Reset Link
- Check your inbox for a password reset email
- Click the link in the email — it opens a secure reset page
- Enter and confirm your new password
- Click Reset Password
The password reset link expires after 1 hour. If it expires, go back to the login page and request a new one.
Password Best Practices
- Use a unique password for SATLAS — don't reuse passwords from other services
- Store it in a password manager (1Password, Bitwarden, Dashlane, etc.)
- Enable 2FA for an additional layer of security — see Two-Factor Authentication →
- Never share your password with anyone, including your admin
If You Suspect Your Account Is Compromised
- Change your password immediately (Account Settings → Security → Change Password)
- Check your active sessions and revoke any you don't recognize
- Enable 2FA if it's not already on
- Notify your admin so they can review audit logs for suspicious activity
Next Steps
- Two-Factor Authentication → — secure your account with a second factor
- Profile Settings → — update your name and account details
