Getting Started with RTF
This guide walks you through everything you need to start using the RTF platform — from logging in to understanding the main workspace.
Accessing RTF
RTF runs as a web application. Open your browser and navigate to your RTF instance URL (e.g., https://satlas.sandboxsecurity.ae).
RTF uses a secure HTTPS connection. If your browser shows a certificate warning, your organization may be using a self-signed certificate — this is expected for on-premise deployments.
The Main Interface
When you first open RTF, you'll land on the Engagements screen. This is your home base — all your active and past engagements are listed here.
The interface is divided into a few key areas:
| Area | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Left Sidebar | Navigate between features within an engagement |
| Top Bar | Switch between engagements, access settings |
| Main Panel | The active feature view (navigator, findings, terminal, etc.) |
Your First Steps
Here's the recommended flow when you start a new engagement:
1. Create a Profile (your engagement)
↓
2. Use AI Scope Suggestions to mark techniques in scope
↓
3. Generate an AI Attack Plan
↓
4. Open the MITRE Navigator and start tracking progress
↓
5. Record Findings as you discover them
↓
6. Monitor progress on the Analytics Dashboard
What's a Profile?
A Profile is an engagement. It represents one target or one assessment. Everything in RTF — findings, navigator data, terminal sessions, AI plans — belongs to a profile.
You can have multiple profiles open at the same time, which is useful if you're working on multiple engagements.
See Managing Profiles → to learn how to create one.
What Are Subprofiles?
A Subprofile lets you divide an engagement into segments. For example, if your target has multiple departments, networks, or environments, you can create a subprofile for each one.
Findings can be recorded at either the profile level or a specific subprofile level.
See Managing Subprofiles → for more details.
